How to Help

To ANY Nevadan who is employed:

The Workers Compensation system is broken, and you are at risk of your employer denying a claim if you are injured on the job.  We are tired of employers not being accountable when they deny your injury treatment and benefits, and we are taking action.

We have a Bill Draft in the upcoming legislature to change the law to benefit any person employed in the state of Nevada.  It is time to bring accountability back to this system.  You deserve to receive the coverage allowed by law.

Please spend 20 minutes helping with this cause.  We need you to tell your elected officials that you EXPECT them to work on behalf of their constituents that they represent.  Here are a few simple steps you can take to help us make this happen.

  1. Click here to find out who your representatives are – enter your address in the upper left, and you will see your representatives. When you click on their names, it should give you contact information.
  2. If you don’t see their email address or phone number, click here for a list of Assembly members contact information and click here for a list of Senate members contact information.
  3. Place two phone calls. One to your Senator, and one to your Assembly representative.
    1. Tell them: I am a voter in your district, and I am concerned with the issues in the Workers Compensation system.  There is currently a Bill Draft to change Nevada Law (NRS 616) to add the Bad Faith clause back.  I want to see you actively support this bill, and to stand up for our citizens.
    2. You can also ask the following questions if you want to:
      1. Are you strong enough to stand up for what is right without giving in to pressures from large industry who do not want to be held accountable for taking care of their employees?
      2. What will you do to help this bill pass?
      3. What steps will you actively take to support this legislative change?
      4. Are you willing to co-sponsor the bill?
  1. If you are uncomfortable making these phone calls, you can send an email instead. You can use the above language to send an email to each of your representatives.

We, as citizens and employees, have a right to a system that does not automatically deny claims if we are injured on the job.

Lastly:  You can also help by donating $20 or more to help us push this legislation through.  All funds are being used for this legislation, to get the word out, to help injured workers get to the legislature to tell them in person how the system is failing Nevadans.  You can donate here.  You can learn more about Kim Frankel who started this movement after being denied treatment.  Kim was injured on the job, she has won her case in the appeals and district courts, but her employer still refuses to treat her condition, resulting in a permanent disability.  She could have completely recovered if her employer had just gotten her treatment when their doctors told them to.  Kim has founded NV Fails Workers, and is gaining momentum to change the law.  Please help Kim to help you and all Nevadans.
